MERBC’s commitment to ‘Responsible Infrastructure’ has stood the test of time, with social commitment and environmental responsibility being an integral business goal.
We go beyond business, fulfilling our duty as a responsible corporate citizen. We consistently work towards improving the quality of life of the communities we serve, be it our organisation, the industry as a whole, or society at large.
Since we execute some of the largest and most challenging projects in the country, we take it upon ourselves to adopt sustainable practices that serve the well-being of the community – both in the immediate vicinity of its work operations and also beyond.
Focus Areas

We aim to deliver our services efficiently and effectively, exceeding industry standards. MERBC ensures that all employees are properly trained, equipped, and motivated to serve our customers in accordance with the highest level of professionalism. Our team’s combined years of hands-on industry experience makes us the top choice for high quality services. We are committed to quality, and the quality of our work speaks for itself.
Middle East for Roads, Bridges and Constructions (MERBC) Quality Statement serves to comply with the terms and conditions of and client contracts, and with the applicable regulatory and legal requirements of the industry, environment, and safety. Contracts require us to complete the planned work according to agreed-upon specifications, within an agreed-upon timeframe, and at the agreed-upon price. These are fundamental requirements of the construction industry and MERBC will continue to meet these requirements.
MERBC recognizes that maintaining a sufficient margin to invest is dependent on continually improving our techniques and the competencies of our people, so that client wishes, shareholder profits, and employee expectations are fully realized. By doing so, prospective clients will have no qualms negotiating further business with our company. MERBC recognizes that key material suppliers and specialized subcontractors contribute to our success; We are committed to maintaining close and beneficial partnerships with these parties. While projects are underway, we are committed to reducing any issues to a realistic extent, within the limits of each contract, in order to preserve these relationships. MERBC remains committed to our continual progress by establishing company-wide quality objectives improvement. The objectives are communicated down through the organization, so that each level understands its role in attaining these objectives. Once branch- and department-level objectives are met, they are reviewed according to this Quality Statement. The results are then used to prepare new objectives. This statement is regularly reviewed by upper-management for accuracy and relevance.
MERBC expresses its corporate responsibility and commitment to promoting ourselves as healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly. We care about the world in which we live, and work tirelessly to extend our care to our people and our sites. Our company’s achievements are made possible by preserving and developing human and physical resources, and by reducing costs and liabilities. We have adopted a proactive Health, Safety, and Environment Plan by identifying work place hazards and reducing inherent risks to manageable levels, thereby avoiding accidents, liabilities, and consequential costs resulting from accidents.
Every year MERBC submits a report titled’ Responsible Infrastructure’ that reflects the continued progress MERBC has made towards fulfilling its sustainability goals of achieving water neutrality, minimizing construction waste, zero-reportable injuries for employee health and safety, and promoting the development of the communities the company operates in.
MERBC has published eleven Sustainability Reports till date and working on twelve, which are being prepared as per GRI Standards. The Reports has undergone as per type 2, moderate level assurance as per AA 1000 AS Standard by independent assurors.
MERBC has traditionally been contributing to communities in and around its project sites, with an objective of improving their quality of life. In order to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the community programs, we actively involve communities and initiate programs that have a positive effect on their lives. It is a process based on empowering communities with skills, knowledge and experiences which can help them to choose a programe that best suits their benefit, enabling them to fully participate.
MERBC endeavours to achieve “ZERO reportable injuries” at each site.
At MERBC, paramount importance is given to safety at every juncture, every step of the way. The company advocates efforts to achieve ‘ZERO reportable injuries’ at each work front.
The company has undertaken several initiatives over the years to improve safety performance, including mandatory induction and training programmes, tool box talks, demonstration of usages of personal protective equipment etc.
Besides these initiatives, MERBC has undertaken the Proactive Safety Observation Programme (PSOP) which has brought about a paradigm shift in the way safety is observed at all project sites. The PSOP programme analyses the causes of possible accidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions & unsafe acts. Each of these causes is systematically reported and pre-emptive actions are taken to mitigate the chances of an accident.
Going one step further, the company has added a new dimension to its safety programme by introducing the Behaviour-based Safety Programme. Behaviour-based Safety (BBS) emphasizes that employees need to take ownership of their own behaviour. If they behave in an unsafe manner, they are repeatedly made to correct themselves. Both safe and unsafe behaviours are recorded and displayed as learning opportunities. BBS emphasises that unsafe conditions are created by unsafe behaviours.
The purpose of BBS is to identify both safe and at-risk behaviours, identify possibilities for injury, communicate the risk and help identify safer solutions. A BBS steering committee monitors its progress. The feedback process reinforces the use of safe behaviours and helps us determine why certain at-risk behaviours were carried out. Collecting information about at-risk behaviour helps management determine the root cause of such behaviour and helps in developing an action plan to remove the mental barrier causing this behaviour.
